Margie B. Luczak is a retired Chicago police officer, a proud product of the Chicago Public Schools, and a longtime Northwest Side resident.

Born in Łódź, Poland, Margie immigrated to the United States with her family in 1973, when she was five years old. Two years later she stood beside her mother at her naturalization ceremony, raised her hand, and recited the Pledge of Allegiance as a new American citizen.

 

Margie grew up in Chicago, graduated from Curie High School, and continued her education at Richard J. Daley College and in the psychology program at Loyola University Chicago.

In 1999 she joined the Chicago Police Department. Over 27 years of service she began her career in the 18th District, spent about a dozen years as a beat officer in Jefferson Park, where she often served Polish-speaking families in their own language, and went on to assignments in narcotics and vice. She finished her career in business license enforcement, shutting down properties that put neighborhoods at risk. She retired in January 2026.

For 27 years, other people's children were Margie's responsibility. She has seen what happens to kids when the adults in charge fail them. She is running so it stops happening in our schools.

Margie lives on the Northwest Side with her husband, Brian. She is fluent in Polish. She is endorsed by Alderman Nick Sposato (38th Ward), Alderman Anthony Napolitano (41st Ward), and Alderman Jim Gardiner (45th Ward).

As the District 1A representative, Margie will do this job full time. Families, students, and taxpayers will have a voice. Our schools will be safe, effective, and accountable to the community they serve.
